The Origin Story
Ever had one of those late-night conversations that completely changes how you see the world? There we were, Cynthia and I (Jason), one night in our cozy Los Feliz apartment thinking we have a pretty good ‘read’ of each other after almost ten years together.
We'd been talking about perception—how everyone sees things differently. You know that saying, a picture is worth a thousand words? We started wondering if maybe it works the other way too—if a single word might contain a thousand different pictures, one in each person's mind.
We wanted to test this out. So we grabbed a notepad and wrote down five random words:
banana, rocket, butterfly, sky, vampire.
"Let's rank them by danger," Cynthia said, "least to most."
I immediately knew my answer: butterfly (harmless), banana (could slip?), sky (unpredictable weather), rocket (explosive), vampire (um, kills people?).
When Cynthia saw my arrangement, she burst out laughing.
Her order? Vampire, butterfly, banana, sky, rocket.
"Wait—vampire as LEAST dangerous?" I was genuinely confused.
She just shrugged. "Vampires aren't real, Jason! How can I be afraid of something that doesn't exist? Rockets, though? Those are literal exploding machines people strap themselves to!"
“Whoa.” I said.
Same words. Same rule. Completely different thinking. Both totally logical!
When we introduced our prototype at game nights, the most electrifying moments were those rare instances of "Perfect Logic" when everyone saw things exactly the same way! Creating an instant connection around the table. It felt like we had superpowers and we couldn’t get enough.
At its heart, this game celebrates those moments when we truly understand how someone else thinks, and in turn, learn something new about ourselves. It bridges casual party games with strategic thinking, making space for both animated storytellers and quiet observers.
When we realized all the different games you could play with the same group of words and logic, we knew we had to bring this to the world. A word card game that plays like classic playing cards? The Match My Logic universe was born!
